NATURE OF DEFECT
The 2” NB line detailed above has suffered from internal corrosion. This has resulted in a thinned area on the elbow. The client requires a clamp enclosure repair to enclose the defect in case it goes through wall and keeps the line at its full operating specification.
SOLUTION
Metalyte Pipeworks solution was to have the customer carry out a full survey using a MPW survey sheet to collate dimension of the line. A clamp design with built-in restraints was then created in accordance with ASME VIII from the data provided. The clamp was designed, manufactured, pressure tested to design conditions, delivered, and installed successfully.
REPAIR METHOD
Supply a resin fill clamp with restraints to contain and support the 2” line.
