2″ Degasser to Closed Drains Header

The 2” line detailed above has suffered from a series of cracks and though wall defects resulting in various leaks through out the full line

Nature of defect

The 2” line detailed above has suffered from a series of cracks and though wall defects resulting in various leaks through out the full line, the client required a composite repair to bring it back up to full design specification.

Solution

Metalyte Pipeworks technical team developed a repair method using our Herculyte steel stick and Herculyte epoxies to seal the leaks and LV cloth as a bonding coat and Dragon-Q-STD as the composite overwrap. The repairs are finished in UV protect paint.

Repair method

Metalyte Pipeworks technical team developed a repair method using our Herculyte steel stick and Herculyte epoxies to seal the leaks. The steel stick is inserted into the defects and using our Uni Wrap we pull the steel sick on to the defect and leave to cure once cured any excess is cut off. Then our Hercuyte epoxies are applied to profile and further strengthen the repair. The line is then wrapped in 2 layers in LV cloth this is used as a bonding coat once cured 4 layers of Dragon-Q-STD is applied to the line as per the repair specification. Heater blankets are applied to bring the repair to within 30°c of the design temperature, once a scheduled amount of time has passed the repair is tested for its shore D hardness. 10 readings are taken over the full area of the repair this shore D reading was 86.29 average. Once the shore D was confirmed then the line was painted in 2 layers of our UV paint.
