Nature of Defect
Two areas of external corrosion were identified on the 6” Flare vent. No preparation was allowed over the corrosion and the repair length had to account for this.
The Solution
Metalyte Pipeworks solution was to apply a thick high temperature resistant resin to reinforce the corroded areas then apply 6 layers of their composite system. This would halt any further corrosion issues and build the strength back in to the line for full operational requirements.
Repair Method
The corrosion was filled with a thick resin then the landing areas were prepped either side. The affected areas were then wrapped in Metalyte Pipeworks high temperature composite. This was allowed to cure before the application of the UV protection.
