A liquid line with severe external corrosion and scabbing around the Tee circumferential weld.
Nature of Defect
The process liquid line has suffered severe external corrosion and scabbing around the Tee circumferential weld.
Solution
Metalyte Pipeworks applied 12 layers of their Dragon composite system. Encapsulating the Tee and reducer to gain the required landing area. This would halt any further corrosion issues and build the strength back in to the line for full operational requirements.
Repair Method
The full length of the required repair area was prepped to SP11 removing all corrosion and gaining the surface profile required for the composite to adhere to.
The pipe surface then had a resin bond coat applied prior to the application of the composite. The line was then wrapped in 20 layers of composite and allowed to cure.
