NATURE OF DEFECT
The 2” line had suffered from external corrosion. This has resulted in 2 leaks, 1 on the pipe and a possible leak at the flange region. The client requires a composite repair to seal the leak locations and to bring the line back up to its full design specification.
SOLUTION
Metalyte Pipeworks produced a repair method to seal the leaks with a minimum overwrap of 4 layers of Dragon-QUAD-UHT composite system.
REPAIR METHOD
Metalyte Pipeworks used their specialised injectable composite system to arrest the leak live. Once arrested, surface preparation was completed using an MBX machine to gain the surface profile and 4 layers of Engineered Dragon-QUAD-UHT were applied and allowed to cure until a minumim of 74.5 “Shore D” hardness was achieved.
